Basic mushroom powders are generally dried and ground, while water-only extracts primarily capture water-soluble components. myBrainCo Organic Lion’s Mane uses both water and alcohol extraction before freeze-drying, creating a dual-extract powder with a broader profile of naturally occurring mushroom compounds including hericenones.

Many mushroom extracts are spray-dried or processed using higher temperatures. myBrainCo Organic Lion’s Mane is instead freeze-dried at low temperatures after extraction to help maintain the natural profile of the finished mushroom powder. This gently removes moisture while helping maintain the natural profile of the finished mushroom powder before it is packed and third-party tested for quality and purity.

Hericenones are naturally occurring compounds found in the fruiting body of Lion’s Mane. As part of our quality program, our Organic Lion’s Mane is independently assessed using HPLC to verify its compositional profile, including naturally occurring hericenone content. Every batch is also tested for heavy metals, microbiological contaminants and mould before release.

Lion’s Mane naturally contains a diverse range of mushroom components, including beta-glucans, polysaccharides, ergosterol and hericenones. Different extraction methods can influence the profile of the finished powder.
